Persecution Awareness

Persecution Awareness

“You armed me with strength for battle; you made my adversaries bow at my feet.” Psalm 18:39

ON THE FRONTLINES IN BURMA

The Karen people are the second largest of the ethnic minority groups living in Burma and Thailand. They are predominantly Christian. There are an estimated six million Karen in Burma, and over 400,000 in Thailand.

In June 2009, the Burmese Army mounted another merciless campaign against the Karen people as well as the Shan and Karenni, two other minority groups. Thousands of women and children fled through the jungles, battling rain and floods to reach relative safety in Thailand.

The Bible League of Canada’s partners in the field work diligently to provide hope for the Karen people. Supported by a network of organizations, they are the important link to urgent necessities for these displaced people. The Bible League of Canada provides Karen Bibles for them, their strength for the battle.

During the recent fighting, our partners sent daily reports, sharing what they had seen and suffered, desperately asking for prayer.

Strength for the Battle” Persecution Awareness resources give actual accounts of our field workers journey through their journal entries, bringing you face to face with the suffering, the needs and, amazingly, the joys, of the Karen Christian community.
