Burmese Bibles Received After 40 Years of Waiting

This letter from a Bible League field worker tells of the arrival of Bibles to a group of Burmese refugees from the state of Karen.

“The Pow Karen Bibles arrived in Thailand the first week of February 2010.  They went right to the border and I went there to meet the Pow Karen pastors and to check on the delivery.

The picture shows the first Pow Karen Pastor to preach from this Bible. He was very, very excited about that. He is from a refugee camp in Thailand.

All of the Pow Karen Pastors were extremely excited about this Bible.  They said there has been a huge lack of Bibles among the Pow Karen Christians in Burma.  There are full churches that don't have a single full Bible, but may have some New Testaments only.  They mentioned a Bible school that also doesn't have a single full Bible.

THEY HAVE BEEN WAITING NEARLY 40 YEARS TO HAVE A PRINTING OF THE POW KAREN BIBLE LIKE THIS.

They have been actively working with other missions for at least 15 years trying to get this Bible printed, but it never happened until now.

They love the quality.  They have never had one this thin and of this good quality.  They are hoping the books will last more than 20 years.

In the past they had tried to print some Bibles in Rangoon, but the quality was poor and the books would only last one year.

One leading pastor was smiling big and he said, "I am so happy.  I have no words."

Thank you for making this possible for them.

The books are now going into Burma.  Pray that they will reach all the needy Christians.

Thank you and God bless you!”
